Here is one of our latest projects. This is a kitchen remodel that opened up the kitchen to the living room area. Originally the kitchen cabinets had an angle that led to the island. There was a curio cabinet on the backside of the divider wall as well as a curio cabinet on the island top. There was lots of wasted space and a closed in feeling in the kitchen. The island was filled with many small storage areas and again lots of wasted space giving the area a closed in feeling as well. We removed the island cabinetry, installed a new exhaust hood and rebuilt a larger island giving much needed counter space around the slide-in stove. The main cabinet area was lacking counter space. We rebuilt the pantry removing the middle section. The divider wall was removed along with the curio cabinets. The layout was changed to an "L" shape joining with the island. A lazy susan was added in the new corner and new smaller cabinets were made to fill the empty spots. Counter space was increased, cabinet storage was increased, and the area was opened up to the living room creating an open area design. There were a few problems we ran into as this was a modular build but the problem areas were overcome. See the pictures below.
